What We Do and What You'll Need
Once you have turned in your Membership Application into Cherokee County Electric Cooperative, a CCECA Staking Technician will contact you to schedule a staking appointment. They will schedule a time to meet at your property to determine the needs and requirements for electric service.
To ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible, you'll need to do the following:
- Obtain 911 address from county, if needed.
- Know the location of the property lines, septic system, telephone, cable, gas and water lines
- Mark the four corners of the structure and put a clearly marked stake where the Meter Loop will be located.
- Provide a copy of your Warranty deed or Deed of Trust contract of sale to verify ownership of property.
- Have access to additional easements to provide service to your location from neighbor(s), as necessary. Remember all easements must be signed and notarized by all the parties that are listed on the recorded Warranty Deed. If married, both parties must sign easement. If deceased, easement must be signed by the Executor of the Estate or all heirs will be required to sign. Copies of Legal documents will be required.
- We’ll also determine whether any rights-of-way must be cleared or trimmed by you before the line is built. Right-of-Ways must be cleared 30’ from ground to sky and are the responsibility of new member.
- Consult with your builder or electrician to learn the size of your electric load. Know the permanent location of the metering point.
- Temporary or permanent Meter Loops must be set before Construction can begin.
With the above information, we’ll work with you to design the most direct or preferred route by you and discuss if you want overhead or underground service.
Once this is decided, our staking technician will designate the facilities location and determine the necessary engineering to provide you service. And, if all the details for the line construction have been finalized, we can also provide the cost.
Once the electric service is built, should the member request the service moved, the member will be responsible for 100% of the cost of relocated the electric service.
